The porch views were a real treat, and we spent each evening there sipping wine. The location is phenomenal, every room has a gorgeous view, and breakfast was hands down the best of our trip. There are lots of things to do on site, the amenities are amazing, and it's very family friendly. We went as a couple without our toddler, but we know our child would have loved it.

506 Bistro was a highlight in the evenings, with amazing dinner and drinks, and breakfast each morning felt like a treat. The pool and jacuzzi are fabulous, and the inn is impeccably clean with warm, helpful staff. On the River Inn has a beautiful, peaceful setting beside the river, and manages a nice mix of cozy Vermont character and modern comfort. It is well placed for exploring Woodstock while still feeling like a quiet retreat. We can't wait to return and would recommend it without hesitation.

The fresh muffins in the morning and the snowy sunrise view are moments this Floridian family will always remember. My 21-year-old son and I came for one night, but it became one of our most meaningful trips together. Walking beside the river in the snow, talking for hours, and taking in the inn's warmth, history, and beautiful antiques gave us a rare pause and brought us closer. The staff were incredible, and the front desk attendant pointed us toward local trails to explore. We celebrated my son's 21st birthday at 506 Bistro. David, the owner, sat with us at the bar and made his first taste of craft spirits feel thoughtful and memorable. The hospitality and care throughout our stay made the place unforgettable. On The River Inn is a warm, charming gem, and we can't wait to return with the whole family and explore more of the area. Highly recommend!

The meals at the bistro were delicious, just as we remembered, and the staff are still warm and friendly. It was lovely to see familiar faces at breakfast and dinner; that brought back the home-away-from-home feeling from our first visit last winter. This was our second stay at the 506 on the river inn. We came back because we fell in love with its charm and ambience, and our family made such wonderful memories here last time. Still, we're hesitant about coming back again. The condition of many public spaces had noticeably declined. Hallways and common areas weren't very clean, with garbage left on several tables and in open areas. Walls and baseboards were visibly nicked and worn, and the carpeting looked dirty and was starting to shred in places. The family activities we enjoyed last time were also falling apart. My children and I learned to shoot pool here last year and were excited to play again, but only two pool sticks worked and duct tape was holding the pockets on. The game room disappointed my son too, because the pop-a-shot was broken. We love the heart of this inn and the memories we've made, so it's hard to raise these concerns. With more attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and the amenities, it could be the special place our family fell for again.

We felt welcome from the minute we arrived. The staff were friendly, attentive, and thoughtful without hovering. The inn sits beautifully along the river, with peaceful views that made it easy to relax. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and well appointed, with cozy details that made it feel more like a retreat than an ordinary hotel. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and everything seemed cared for. The atmosphere was quiet, charming, and very Vermont. Whether having coffee in the morning, resting after exploring Woodstock, or just taking in the scenery, the place felt both upscale and inviting. We had a wonderful stay at On the River Inn and would absolutely return. I'd recommend it to friends without hesitation.
