During my four-night January stay, marijuana and cigarette smoke came through the bathroom vent on two nights. I had to sleep with the window open in weather around 10 degrees just to make the room tolerable, and reporting it didn’t get the problem fixed. I also didn’t receive housekeeping despite asking several times. I got replacement towels, then the hotel claimed I had declined service, which isn’t true. Breakfast was poorly handled. On two mornings, food ran out within the first hour and wasn’t replenished. The property also feels dated and below the usual Marriott standard. Costco reviewed my complaint and provided a one-night refund. I’m a long-time Marriott Bonvoy member and used to travel extensively for work, around 150 hotel nights a year, which helped lead me to Residence Inn by Marriott Southington (CT). The Marriott website still advertised an evening social hour, and that affected my booking. When I asked at the desk, a staff member said it was no longer offered and that she’d never heard of it. They should update that information so guests can decide with accurate details. This was one of my poorest hotel stays, and I wouldn’t return.

The staff were very nice, and the nearby gas station had gas for $2.49 a gallon. Highway access was less than half a mile away. The hotel allows pets, but unlike many places, it didn’t seem to have a limited number of pet rooms. Marijuana smell filled the hallways more often than not. We stayed nearly two weeks, from 12/21/25 to 1/2/26. Almost every night, noise from the room above was deafening, starting around 5:00 or 5:30 AM and going until about 8, then beginning again around 9:30 PM for hours. Calls to the front desk didn’t stop it. The sofa was in terrible shape, uncomfortable to sit on and left me with a very sore back. Breakfast was the same replay every day: awful scrambled eggs, packaged egg or hot sandwiches, and one breakfast meat. They rotated turkey sausage, pork sausage, and turkey sausage patties, with bacon on only two of the 12 days.

The hallway really does smell of weed. The billing problem started at check-in, when I was charged $494.50 despite having a confirmation for $448.50. I always get a paper bill so I can review it with someone before leaving, but the woman at the desk couldn’t provide one or explain the difference. She kept saying, “Sorry, I understand,” which was useless. Two days later I was still trying to get an accurate bill from Marriott. I received a bill, but its total still didn’t match my credit card statement, and I remained overcharged by $120. Don’t stay here.

The friendly staff and convenient location used to make this our go-to hotel when visiting family. We stayed about a dozen times over the past few years, but this was our last visit. The hallways reek of weed, and the rooms are looking very worn. The beds have broken box springs and indented mattresses that hurt your back, and the bathrooms were filthy. On our final stay, my wife even spotted toenail clippings in the carpet. The bedrooms and bathrooms need a major renovation.

We’ve stayed here for a long time, visiting family for holidays and birthdays, and it used to feel like a home away from home. This visit had several building problems. Water leaked into our tub from the second floor on the first night. They moved us the next morning, but the heat in the new room didn’t work, so we were moved again to the second floor. There were also pipes leaking in other rooms and more heating trouble. The hotel needs upkeep and renewal. Macy, Sarah, and Thomas, the maintenance guy, worked hard to help us through it and did something extra for my daughter. The problems weren’t Macy’s or Sarah’s fault. Those three tried to make things right and keep us happy. They deserve recognition, and I hope they get a good raise. Thank you, Macy, Sarah, and Thomas.
