Victorian Inn

I've gotten to know Al at the front desk over the past few months. He's genuine, always happy to see me, and one of the reasons I stay here. Bonnie, who works the morning front desk, has been a sweetheart too. They're both great and deserve a Christmas bonus. It's a great place to stay, and the location is wonderful.

A neat little place just off the highway. The front desk was awesome, and the rooms were clean.

I booked two nights but left after one. The location is convenient, and the second room was livable with a wall AC unit that was a little slow but did its job. The rooms show their age, though things work, and there wasn't enough lighting. In the first room, someone had clogged the toilet, and there was hair on the bed, though that could have been a one-off. The bathroom fan made a horrifying noise, even after I changed rooms. The Wi-Fi was abysmal to nonexistent, which is ultimately why I left. I couldn't get anything done, and that's unforgivable now. The walls are paper thin, so I wouldn't call it child-friendly. My child made noise after quiet hours, and the man downstairs knocked on his ceiling to get them to quiet down. That's the first time I've had that issue in a hotel, since most are soundproofed. The same man came out casually while we were getting ready to leave and sat on his makeshift front patio smoking the most abrasive weed smell I've ever had to deal with. I could practically scoop the stench out of the air and eat it with my breakfast sandwich. Check-in closes at midnight because there's no night shift, so don't book if you won't arrive by then. If something goes wrong at night, you're on your own. They still use regular keys and charge an extra deposit for each one. It's a place to lay your head, nothing more. Don't expect to get work done, and don't bring children unless they can stay quiet as mice. I wish the price made it worthwhile, but I can't say that. This is the second worst place I've stayed, not because of the second room's quality, but because it lacks the basic conveniences I expect even from the cheapest chain. Maybe the category misled me unintentionally: it's listed as a hotel, but clearly feels like a motel. I strongly suggest they upgrade the entire internet system so it consistently reaches at least 10 mbps. Then I'd say it could be worth it for a business traveler. Hopefully they make significant upgrades in the future, or change the category.

The front desk staff were superb, friendly and helpful about the hotel and the area. It shows its age in places, but the space was comfortable, roomy and restful, with great amenities. I stayed two weeks and would do it again. AWESOME place!
