Residence Inn by Marriott Spartanburg Westgate

The rooms and motel itself are nice, but travelers should know about the vehicle burglaries. There’s broken glass all over the parking lot, and management or the owners know there’s a problem, yet there are no cameras or security. I stayed here and at the Hampton Inn twice over six days, and for context, I’m a retired cop. In response to the General Manager’s comments, it’s good to hear, but having no cameras around the property is unacceptable. CCTV would deter theft and help identify and arrest suspects. A decent system isn’t that costly or prohibitive, and preventing even one civil lawsuit could pay for it many times over.

We were told some people live here long term, which doesn’t bother me. What did put me off was people smoking every day on the outdoor patio right beside a no-smoking sign, and people lying across the breakfast tables in the morning. Also, please tell guests ahead of time if rooms won’t be cleaned or refreshed during their stay.

I was staying at the Hampton Inn across the parking lot, not at this location. I noticed your building was open with a lot of materials inside, so I locked it up and called the front desk to let them know. I can’t stand thieves, and didn’t want to see anyone steal from you.

The rooms were really clean, the bed was just right, and there were pillows for every preference. Service was on point, and breakfast had a nice variety.
