Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort

Everything was well kept at Elkhorn Ridge, from the clean restrooms to the green spaces and level concrete sites. It’s one of the nicest campgrounds we’ve stayed at. There’s a pool and hot tub, plus individual bathroom and shower rooms with laundry in the same building. It has a dog park too, pretty much everything you need.

The office called the morning we arrived to see if we wanted to change sites so we wouldn’t have to move after extending our stay by two days. They suggested end-cap Site 71, and we were happy to take it. Online pre-check-in also made arrival quick and easy. It was a pull-through site with FHUs, a long pad with multiple sewer hookups, and utilities near the middle. The cement patio and picnic table were nice, and there was room for our 40' toy hauler with the back patio down, plus our F450. Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort is an easy-to-find campground near I-90, far enough from the highway that road noise wasn’t too bad. We stayed in October 2025, and the customer service was exceptional. Campground Wi-Fi was okay at 13.5 Mbps. We had 2 bars of Verizon 5G and 1 bar on T-Mobile, which wasn’t enough for T-Mobile Home Internet. We put Starlink on the roof instead, and with few mature trees near our site, we had a clear view of the sky and excellent performance. There are nice showers, laundry, a dog park, and good walking areas. One of the best private campgrounds we’ve stayed at.

The grounds are beautiful and exceptionally clean, with large, spacious sites, and the staff are very friendly. Our dog loved the dog park. It’s close to Spearfish and Deadwood, and makes a good base for seeing the Black Hills area. My only disappointment was being moved from the spot I’d selected near the bathrooms to one as far away as possible, even though there were open sites beside my first choice. I’ll absolutely stay again, but next time I’ll add notes explaining why I picked that site. It didn’t seem like that had been taken into account.

My wife and I held our wedding here in OCT of 2025, and the whole wedding party and our guests stayed in the mountain view cabins. Elkhorn ridge was easy to work with, making sure we had enough cabins for everyone. We also asked them to coordinate the wedding, and Constance and her team made the whole process easy and worry free. They helped with weather-related changes and made it easy for us to adjust plans. They made our weekend even better. 10 out of 10, I’d recommend them to anyone. If you stay in one of the large cabins, I’d suggest bringing a fan to move air from the front to the back. The A/C and heat unit is at the front.
