I felt safe staying here on my own, and the location was convenient, with easy highway access and a fairly quiet area. There are several quick food options within a couple of minutes, including a Sheetz, Starbucks, Taco Bell, and McDonald’s. The hotel staff were lovely and helpful. The room was otherwise fine, but the white stain on the bed frame was really unsettling to walk in and see. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling, and the blackout shade had torn, apparently from poor installation. Tru is known for being affordable and looking okay, so I wasn’t surprised, but that stain was hard to get past.

The hotel is handy for I-95, a raceway, a gas station, and quick food, but the room and lobby had the same strong, musty perfume odor. The room floors were dirty, there was hair in the shower, and the bathroom wallpaper was peeling and moldy. I also saw the family running the hotel lounging in the lobby, including one person who was barefoot. That came across as unprofessional. I wish the cleanliness and general atmosphere had lived up to the convenient location.

The bed was comfortable, and I didn’t hear traffic. Getting in and out was easy, too. It was a quick overnight, and the room was large, apparently because it was handicap accessible, though the bathroom smelled like urine. The ice machine area and buckets were dirty and wet, and the stairwells had trash on the floor and hadn’t been vacuumed. They didn’t seem to get cleaned often, especially compared with the place we stayed earlier that week. There were no blackout screens, and I’d like waste cans in the rooms as well as the bathroom.

This was my third stop here on a long road trip, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. It’s quiet, affordable, and right off the highway, with a Sheetz just behind it for an easy fuel stop before getting back on the road. The staff are kind, and the clean rooms feel state of the art. A convenient, outstanding place to stay.
