The location was handy, close to Walmart and other places to eat, but the room was nasty and I was extremely uncomfortable. I paid $400 for a week in squalid conditions, with no clear upkeep or pest control. Dog waste was everywhere despite the contract requiring guests to pick it up, and the ice machine was broken. The door didn’t seal, so rain and bugs came underneath. Inside, there was a strong mold and paint smell that made me cough all week. Roaches were on the bathroom floor and in the tub, and the water pressure was so low I couldn’t properly shower. None of my 2,000 parts got wet at once. I brought my own towels because theirs were soiled. Housekeeping only spot-cleaned; the walls, lampshade, and furniture were visibly dirty. On my second day, I was locked out because the housekeeper said I had a snake. It was actually a bioactive plant terrarium with only plants and a skull. On my last day, the clerk said the manager didn’t allow plants in rooms. I had to tell him several times that I wasn’t staying there anymore. This is a Red Roof Inn, but the doors aren’t red.

We brought home bedbugs, and a month later we still hadn’t recovered from the rashes and swollen lymph nodes. Because we had our very small dog, I assume they put us in a dog-friendly room. The bathroom door had scratch marks and other damage that looked like it came from large dogs. The bathtub didn’t look clean, and the windowsill had mold, dirt, and peeling paint. Paint was chipped and marked up in other places too. On first entering, the smell of cleaning chemicals was so strong we could hardly breathe. Essential oils helped cover the odor, but didn’t stop the effects of sleeping in that toxic environment. I don’t recommend this hotel, no matter how much you’re trying to save. There’s a health cost. The management response was amusing because it talked only about pest control. If the hotel and rooms were kept clean, pests wouldn’t be such a big problem. Did they even look at the pictures? They tell the story.

I’d been staying here on and off for a couple of days when they kicked me out over red dye on the white sheets. It came from the spaghetti strap dress I wear during skin disability flare-ups. I explained that to the front desk guy, who was rude, and showed him the dress, but he and the housekeeper, who interrogated me with a photo, still didn’t believe me and said I couldn’t return. There were also plenty of German roaches in the bathroom, the kind you find in kitchens and restrooms. Whenever I switched on the light, they scattered across the floor. It’s awful to be treated that way at a place in the hospitality business. The front desk staff and housekeepers argued with guests and were rude and unprofessional. I won’t spend money at this location again.

The male worker on the morning shift lives on site and was extremely rude and unprofessional in the way he handled things. He needs better training. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

There’s a Starbucks right next door, which suits me, since this place doesn’t serve breakfast or offer coffee even though the office area looks like it might have done so before. The outside is a bit rough, but the interiors are nice enough and seem renovated, though some things, like the tub, still look old while the curtain is new. For the fair last-minute price, I’d come back when I need somewhere quick to shower and crash.
