Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Eugene East/Springfield

We found a scratch on our windshield after leaving the car in the lot overnight, then got a dismissive response when we raised it. Zander at the front desk didn't inspect the damage, laughed about it, and told us to contact corporate or get legal help if we wanted the surveillance footage reviewed. When we asked to speak to a manager, he refused to connect us and said Corey had instructed him not to. The lack of empathy and accountability from management was appalling. Based on how they handled a concern about damage to our property, I wouldn't trust them to take other guest concerns seriously. Be careful parking here.

The hotel wasn't much nicer than IHG. They also jacked up prices during a major event, like the other hotels around there. Wi-Fi dropped out about every 15 minutes, and with cell service already extremely poor, that was a problem. The weak cell service wasn't their fault.

It's fairly new, clean, and the rates are good if you're a Marriott Bonvoy member. We make frequent road trips between California and Washington, so this has become our usual stop when passing through Eugene.

The staff were the bright spot. Everyone at the desk, in the breakfast area, and in housekeeping was kind and helpful, and I appreciate that. The room itself was sparse, with only bathroom hand soap and three packets of poor-quality coffee. The king mattress bounced and shook noticeably with even a small movement. Slamming doors made a lot of noise that carried to rooms across the hall, and the poorly sealed windows let in traffic and parking-lot conversations, even from the fourth floor.
