Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Saint Augustine North by IHG

We spent close to $1,000 on four rooms booked several weeks ahead for New Year’s Eve, hoping for an easy family stay. The check-in time was listed as 3:00 p.m., and I called the front desk to confirm it before we arrived. Still, one room wasn’t ready. We kept hearing “just 10 more minutes,” but waited until 4:30 p.m., more than an hour and a half late. By then, after hours of travel, I had to fit four extra guests into my room, including a woman in a wheelchair and two children. Everyone needed rest, and the wait left us uncomfortable and exhausted. The staff response when I raised the issue was condescending. There was no apology or real attempt to fix things. The people sleeping on the sofa also weren’t given proper bedding. We asked for extra pillows and blankets several times, but were told there was only one extra blanket. I emailed management afterward asking for acknowledgment and reasonable compensation, but never heard back. Two families in our group were affected. The fact that other rooms were ready on time doesn’t excuse the service we got. The lack of courtesy, accountability, and professionalism from staff and management was disappointing, and I can’t recommend this hotel.

We’ve stayed here twice now and would come back again. Nick greeted us warmly, and we felt at home with everyone, though the woman at breakfast seemed too busy to say good morning or welcome guests. Kaitlin was accommodating when we checked out. Our room was very clean, the sheets smelled lovely, and both the bed and pillows were comfortable. The tub and sink drained well, and the outdoor area was well maintained. There was no parking fee.

We spent one night here on the drive down to Miami, just off I-95, and I was impressed by how clean and spacious the room was. The bed was so comfortable, and I loved the pillows labeled “soft” and “firm.” I’ve never seen a hotel do that before. Breakfast had a great range of food, and everything tasted good: eggs, sausage, potatoes, fresh waffles and pancakes, bagels, muffins, toast, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, chocolate milk, and hot cinnamon rolls. The breakfast seating area was medium-sized, but the staff kept the tables clean so there was always a clean spot to sit. We’d stay again. Thanks for the restful night and filling breakfast!

The hotel was clean and quiet, and the staff were all friendly. We felt right at home at this Holiday Inn Express, and we were very happy with the stay. Nick at the front desk was especially welcoming and seemed made for hospitality work. Our room on the fourth floor was very clean. The mattress felt brand new and was a bit hard, so we folded an extra blanket to lie on. Breakfast wasn’t really to our taste, but that’s personal preference. The location worked well, within walking distance of fast food and gas stations. We didn’t use the indoor pool, but had a look, and it appeared clean with no pool smell in the hallway.
