Holiday Inn Express St. Augustine near Dtwn - Historic by IHG

The blackout curtains were great, and the staff were helpful and gave us great service. The room was generally clean. The bed was decent, but the pillows flattened as soon as we put our heads down. The A/C didn’t cool things to our liking, though we prefer keeping home at 68 degrees. I’d suggest bed encasements and better pillows.

The entrance can be a little awkward depending on which direction you’re coming from, but for the price this is about the best you’ll find. Clean and modern, with friendly service and great free Costa coffee. It’s a super value, and I’ll definitely stay here again on trips to St. Augustine.

We got a last-minute deal at $104, which was great. Room 204 was modern, spotless, and had all the amenities we needed. It’s a small, two-floor HIE, a very short drive from downtown but a long walk. It’s near the amphitheater, alligator farm, and lighthouse. Trolleys seemed to stop at the hotel for rides downtown, but we can’t say for sure. The small parking lot was adequate, though a bit tight. Breakfast was the usual HIE free offering, with sliced hot sausage.

Everyone was really nice, and the hotel was beautiful, with comfy beds. My dad went to look at the pool area without his key and got locked in, so we worried and went to find him. He was about to climb over a trash can to get out when we rescued him. They say there’s Dove lotion and similar stuff in the room, but after using it my hand smelled bad for about 20 minutes, until I got the smell off with a wipe in the car. The TV wasn’t user friendly either. Somehow my mom switched it to Spanish, and it took her around 20 minutes to sort it out. We still couldn’t get it to work easily.
