Fairfield Inn and Suites By Marriott St Charles

The room's floors stayed dirty for all five days, even though housekeeping came in several times. The shower floor was dirty too, so bring shower shoes if you stay. Many of the towels looked dingy and yellow, with brown spots, and the sheets were never changed. The TV stopped working on my first day. Each day I was told it would be fixed, but after repeated complaints it still wasn't working when I checked out. The laundry washer doesn't work, so don't put money into it. The elevators felt sketchy, smelled like vinegar, and didn't inspire confidence. Renovations are underway, but that doesn't excuse the cleanliness and maintenance problems. For a Marriott, this was one of the worst stays I've had. Service, upkeep, and cleanliness all fell short, and I can't recommend it. I'd look elsewhere if a clean, comfortable, maintained place matters to you.

The free breakfast was really nice, with hot food, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, yogurt, baked goods, and breakfast sandwiches. The location also worked well, close to lots of stores and restaurants. The pool was under construction while we were there. I hadn't known it had a pool when booking, though I can see how that would disappoint a family. The room looked a little dated and showed wear, but it was spotless. The soft, squishy beds and pillows were comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the bathroom felt modern, bright, and grime-free, with nice tile, a big mirror, tub, and shower. Water pressure was great and the water got very hot. There were full-size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, plus a microwave, fridge, TV, and big closet. I can't agree with the negative reviews. It was a really nice stay.

For a two-week work stay, having a grocery store and Dollar Tree close by was a big plus. Staff were friendly, breakfast had a decent range of choices, and my king room came with a reasonably sized mini fridge and a nice microwave. WiFi got temperamental sometimes, but worked for what I needed. I'd stay again if I had to, hopefully I won't haha. There was a lot of daytime noise from the second-floor remodel, though it stopped promptly at 4pm as far as I could tell. The pool was closed and being used for building materials. The basic workout room could be better, and the onsite laundry was out of order, likely because it was on the floor being remodeled.

Aly & Carrie N. made my two-day stay amazing while running the bistro. I travel a lot and usually don't hang out at the Courtyard or Fairfield bistros and bars, but their friendly, top-notch service had me enjoying the place. They were always smiling and easy to talk to, and everyone they served seemed to appreciate their customer service as much as I did. These women deserve a raise. Amazing job!
