Red Roof Inn St Louis - St Charles

We were charged too much for the first night, and management brushed off the complaint right away. The room looked clean at first, but after my phone fell under the bed, I found what the pictures show. I complained, and that was ignored too. The shower head didn’t work properly, which made showering nearly impossible. We hadn’t asked before booking, but there was no fridge or microwave, so keeping drinks cold or food hot wasn’t really possible. For what we paid, it wasn’t worth it. I was very dissatisfied with management.

The bed was stiff, though the bedding was clean and crisp. We were also led to expect breakfast, but there was nothing in the room to indicate that it was available. The room was musty and stuffy, with a wet-dog smell. I understand pets are welcome and that suits some guests, but I didn’t like the odor. The price was low, and that matched the value. If you just need somewhere to crash, the Red Roof Inn will do.

The beds are comfortable, the staff are friendly, and it feels safe and basically clean. I like that the covered outside stairs near my door keep me dry when it rains, and it’s dog friendly. There is a weird carpet smell, and smokers often smoke in non-smoking areas, so the place can be a little stinky. I’ll put up with that because it’s affordable and feels safe. Book ahead, since they fill up fast.

The bathroom was decently clean, but the rest of the room was gross. It clearly wasn’t fully smoke-free as advertised, and the beds were rumpled when we arrived, like staff had just pulled the covers up after the last guests. One bedspread had a stain, the previous guest’s dirty towel was still on the bathroom door, and the walls were grimy. Next time I won’t try to save money this way. It wasn’t worth it.
