Best Western Plus Kelly Inn

The downtown spot near the Mississippi River and convention center is handy, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Best Western Plus Kelly Inn is a solid mid-range choice for families or a short stay, with a pool and restaurant adding value. The staff are friendly. Some rooms feel a bit dated, and getting around the layout can be confusing.

We were moving from a St. Cloud home to a St Augusta home and needed a room for one night. My husband and I are 59, and after a tiring day of moving we just wanted to check in and have a nice dinner. We'd booked the Best Western plus hotel online, but they turned us away because our ZIP Code showed we lived in St. Cloud. Apparently their policy doesn't let St. Cloud residents check in. That felt very discriminatory, and I can't believe they refused us. Thankfully we easily found a room at the Marriott and everything worked out. Well done, Mariott!!! I'm very frustrated with Best Western's policy.

We'd stay here again and recommend it. The nearby Green Mill has great food. Our room was suitable but nothing special, and parts of the hotel show their age, though it looks like remodeling is underway. There was a big dance competition nearby and the pool was very busy.

My room felt like an old basement or storage room, and the soundproofing could have been much better. The pool room and the hotel itself looked massive and were clean. Two of the three workers I dealt with were great, though one could use better people skills. The room wasn't like a typical Best Western Plus, it was small, dark, and very noisy. The bed linen and bathroom were clean, but the bathroom was so cramped I had to step into the tub to shut the door. The fridge never got cold, and the ice machine was on another floor. There was no breakfast, a first for me, though they offered a 10% coupon for the attached restaurant. Even though it was on a “flash sale,” it wasn't worth the price.
