Prospector Hotel & Gambling Hall

We usually pass through every year, but this time we made it a two-day trip and stayed overnight in Ely. The price was great. The pool and hot tub were closed, which was disappointing since I’d been looking forward to a soak. The toilet also kept running, so I had to fix it each time. Still a great place to stay.

The dogs were well looked after with a bed and complimentary treats, and our beds were really comfortable too. We had a blast at the Prospector, with a fun lounge and casino and great food in the restaurant. It was packed with locals, who always seem to know the best spots in town. We’ll definitely be back. :)

We’d love to come back and explore the area more. The rooms were huge and clean, and the hallways had paintings and photos from around there. I loved the decorations all through the place, and the restaurant was incredibly delicious. There’s also an adorable gift shop. Such a cute stop on the way to Vegas!

I’ve been a loyal customer for years and often travel through Ely. I used to call this place “the little hotel that trys harder,” but the quality has slipped on my last few stays, and I couldn’t overlook it this time. The rooms and bathrooms need a complete remodel. A facelift won’t be enough now. They’ve also changed the loyalty program so bookings have to be made directly instead of through a booking app, which makes things more complicated for travelers. After I redeemed my free night, I wasn’t given a blank punch card and was told I’d have to wait until my next booking. It may seem minor, but it leaves me with no incentive to return. This is the second most expensive hotel in Ely, so I expect better quality or much lower prices. After all these years, I’m afraid I’ll be staying elsewhere. I hope this feedback leads to some changes.
