Breakers Resort & Beach Bar

We ate at the restaurant twice and it was good both times. It's handy that it stays open until 10pm, later than anywhere else we found in St Ignace. The pool and hot tub were clean, as were the rooms, and the staff were attentive. Breakfast each morning was good and served hot. For a trip to the island, the concierge can call a shuttle. The concierge staff were knowledgeable, and Bev had especially useful recommendations and tips. The price was very reasonable for all the amenities. We enjoyed Breakers and will definitely return to the area.

The sunrise was beautiful and the location is great, but this visit left me frustrated. I've stayed here three times, and this may be my last. I come mainly for the jacuzzi and beach bonfires. Before I arrived, an attendant said having a fire would be fine, so I went out of my way to buy firewood. After a three-hour drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes, I expected to relax by the beach and watch the sunrise with a fire. Instead, I was cold on the beach and then told I couldn't have one. The conflicting information cost me extra money and put a damper on the trip. I understand rules can change, but staff are usually courteous and helpful, and I didn't find that this time. One bad experience can ruin a place. I could have watched the full moon in Sleeping Bear Dunes and stayed somewhere nearby. Next time I may stay in Traverse City and avoid the sleep deprivation from driving through the night.

I arrived feeling stressed, and the front desk team quickly made me feel welcome. They were kind, patient, and seemed genuinely interested in helping, not just following a script. Bev was especially amazing as concierge: her advice and recommendations made my trip much better, and she made me feel like she really cared. The gentleman helping with the cars was friendly and helpful too, with a positive attitude. Those small interactions made everything feel easier and more enjoyable. I had a great stay at Breakers Resort, and I'd come back for how well the staff treated me.

The beach bonfire at night was breathtaking, with waves and stars all around, and the sunrise over the island was amazing. We had a yummy dinner at The Club the night before, and the drinks were just right. The room was spacious and cozy, with an amazing bed. It was decent and mostly clean, though there were a few dirty spots by the shower and some cobwebs. The staff were so friendly. Loved our stay and will be back!
