Motel 6 Saint Joseph, MO

The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but it reeked of cigarettes. The bathroom smelled like urine and had a sticky floor, and cockroaches and other bugs crawled out from under the telephone. There were marks on the ceiling that looked like blood splatter to us. The lobby coffee in the morning was cold and seemed to be left over from the night before. We’ve travelled around the country and abroad and have never stayed anywhere this disgusting. It felt like a horror movie. I wouldn’t just walk away, I’d run and not look back. I’d never recommend this place to anyone.

Sandy was extremely nice and helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we got the best prices. The woman at the front desk was very nice too. The rooms were clean, and the whole staff was friendly. I’ll keep coming back and would stay here again!

The mildew smell was strong, and there were no towels or toilet paper. The shower had a big wad of hair in it. We stayed anyway because we just needed sleep before getting back on the road, and kept the fan running to deal with the smell. Once the lights were off, roaches came out, so we packed up quickly and asked for a refund. They refused, even though we’d only been there two hours.

The staff were very friendly, and the rooms being remodeled looked clean and almost new. There wasn’t anywhere to hang anything, not even a hook, so I had to use the shower curtain. I hung it close to the wall to take some weight off the bar.
