Rodeway Inn Saint Joseph

We felt safe after the first night and had an enjoyable two-night stay. It’s an older hotel with a few minor mechanical issues, but it was clean, comfortable, and affordable, with a good saving compared with other places nearby. We didn’t see bugs or wake up with bites, which was another plus. The front desk person is direct rather than charming and doesn’t tolerate bad behavior at the property. We’ll definitely return.

The breakfast wasn’t worth mentioning, but we liked having a neighborhood restaurant a few minutes’ walk away. We were traveling with a company out of St Joseph, so it was especially convenient for us. There’s also a Quick Trip right next door, which was a plus. The hotel itself is very dated and really needs a facelift.

Everything had a dirty feel, from the lobby and hallway to the room. The sheets were stained, the floor hadn’t been vacuumed, and things like the mirror and light switches hadn’t been wiped down. There was no shampoo or conditioner coming from the shower dispensers. The cleaning lady said she had filled them the day before and that you had to press hard, but I tried hard and got nothing. I only found that out once I was already showering. I’d suggest staying somewhere else.

The rooms were disgusting and dirty, with bedbugs, unclean sheets, and a dirty bathroom. The front desk people were very unfriendly. They wouldn’t take a deposit on a credit card and insisted on $200 cash. It seemed to be because they don’t return all of it at checkout. I’d give this place zero stars if I could. Avoid it at all costs.
