We went up to the Art Bar and the staff were so kind. The bartenders even made me a birthday martini with a candle and sang happy birthday. We had the margherita pizza and charcuterie board, both very good and worth the price. The hotel is gorgeous and feels like a piece of art, and the blue room was cute, though I think it could use more lighting. We felt safe in and around the hotel, and everyone was friendly. The location was EXCELLENT for seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Fabulous Fox. We'll stay here on our next St. Louis trip.

The staff are always great, and we loved the comfortable beds, nice view, wonderful atmosphere, good food, and walkable area for what we needed. The art throughout makes the hotel feel unique. If they fixed some of the problems, I'd give it 5 stars. During our weekend stay starting January 16, the water only got lukewarm, so showers had to be quick. I added a photo of the injury I got from a bed frame that sticks out too far. The carpenters should redesign those corners. The furnace was noisy and hard to control, swinging between freezing and very hot.

The restaurant and bar staff were TOP NOTCH, and the artistic style makes the hotel unique. But the hotel itself was so-so, the service lackluster, and as a Hilton property it was especially disappointing. I don't understand how it has its rating. Our room wasn't ready even after check-in time, and a long line of other guests had the same problem. In the room, the thermostat only offered “warm” or “cool,” with no way to set a temperature, so we were either freezing or burning up. The phone didn't work, which meant leaving the room to reach the front desk. It was INCREDIBLY dark, and at least one of the very few dim lights didn't work, making simple things hard even during the day.

We chose the hotel for its location, half a block from the Fox Theater, and the rooftop bar and first-floor restaurant were the saving graces. Breakfast was good, and the roof bar had great views and excellent staff. Still, we would not stay again. Parking is poor for a full size truck, which won't fit through the gates or in a space. Finding check-in was confusing too: the lobby is on the 12th floor, a small 8 1/2 x 11" sign was easy to miss, and only one of the several elevators goes to the lobby without a key card. The website and confirmation email never mentioned this. Our green room was adequate but not comforting, and a plush chair had visible white smears. I reported it and got free parking, but that covered only one night, not the whole stay. The bathroom outlet didn't work even after we tried resetting the GFI. Marijuana smell was nauseating, especially when the 4th floor smell poured into the elevator and people smoking outside made the entrance reek.

HBO on the TV was nice while I worked, but I won't stay here again. The room and lobby reeked of overpowering perfume, and my allergies nearly made me leave. If I'd been staying longer than one night, I would have. The room wasn't dirty, though there was a piece of plastic trash under the table that wasn't mine, which showed poor cleaning attention to detail. They charged me $6 for a water bottle without posting that it cost extra. I'd never been charged for water at a hotel before. Not an enjoyable stay.
