We stayed during the Great Blizzard of 2022, and the room stayed warm despite the extreme cold and snow. The rooms are large, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms spotless. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning. The new owners are doing a wonderful job, with bright colors and freshly painted rooms that show how much the management cares about each person who comes through the door. They treated us like family and knew the surrounding area well. They’re proud of their community. Prices are reasonable, and it’s only 20 miles to Grand Island. This little hidden spot on the east edge of the Sandhills is somewhere we’ll definitely stay again.

I won’t stay here again. The motel was beyond nasty, and the owners were dishonest and had a bad attitude. I drove from Texas through South Mississippi and up to St. Paul, Nebraska, to visit family, and enjoyed the locals, but the showers were filthy. I spent hours scrubbing grime off myself and bought cleaning supplies, even after showing the owners the problem. The male and female owners left my room without offering to clean it or resolve anything. I didn’t want to drive back and forth every day after coming so far, so I cleaned it and argued extensively for compensation on the four-night stay. In the end, I got only $40 back. She first said she couldn’t refund anything to the card, then agreed to try, but tried to get me to sign a receipt charging me another $145 instead of refunding $40. She gave me a different receipt, after again saying she couldn’t issue a card refund, and it turned into an argument. She lied several times about how long she’d owned the business and made excuses about the motel’s cleanliness instead of just cleaning it. My mom took pictures while I was cleaning, and I posted some. Next time I’ll make the daily drive from the neighboring town to see my family. I don’t recommend this place.

The owners were delightful hosts, and I’d love to come back. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was clean and roomy, and the continental breakfast had more choices than I have at home. What a great find!

I was disgusted and couldn’t wait to leave. The bed and the two pillows we got were really uncomfortable, and in the morning I spotted a huge brown mark along the side of the sheets. It looked like it would’ve come out in the wash, so I seriously doubt they’d been washed after the last guest. The room was filthy too. There was hair and dirt in the tub and across the bathroom, plus dirt and hair in the fridge. The coffee pot was dusty, and the inside hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. The guy at the front desk was just plain rude. This was probably one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed.

The room was clean, but the hallway was very dirty. Our chain lock was broken, and the smoke detector was wrapped in plastic, which isn’t safe. The A/C also wasn’t working properly. St Paul has limited options, but you might want to stay in Grand Island instead.
