Holiday Inn St. Petersburg West by IHG

The staff really saved our trip after the first place we’d booked. Tiffany at the front desk made us comfortable and worked with our needs when we arrived. Emilio was kind and hospitable, and Howard was personable and let us know he was available if we needed anything. The bartenders, Shannon and Kyle, were friendly too. We were close to lots of things to do, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. Thanks to everyone at the Holiday Inn!

We were passing through and just needed somewhere to sleep. Check-in was fine, but my wife spotted a tiny bug shell in the room. A Google photo search called it a roach shell, though I didn’t believe it since everything else looked okay. Then I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a decent-sized roach running across the floor. We didn’t stay for breakfast. They charge for it, too. The neighborhood isn’t awful, but it isn’t good either. I told the front desk, and they didn’t seem to care much, probably because I booked through Expedia.

The staff were very nice, the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the air conditioning worked great. The pool and its surrounding area were clean, and the location was great. I was on the 4th floor, where the ice machine had been removed, so I had to find another one elsewhere. It wasn’t a big deal to me. The $15 breakfast buffet would be my complaint. It was just eh, and could get pricey if you’re feeding a small family. Still, I’d stay here again.

It served its purpose. The room was clean and we slept there, and the pool and hot tub area looked very nice. Sadly, both closed at 10pm, so we couldn’t use them after our late dinner. The area and atmosphere were awful. A man stopped my teenage daughter in the lobby while she was behind me and said there was a girl outside who might have taken bad drugs and was freaking out. He asked what they should do so she wouldn’t get arrested. It was strange because we’d spent almost an hour outside waiting for food just before that and hadn’t heard any disturbance. There were also so many transit-style work vans around that it felt off-putting, especially some parked from 8-9pm with people sitting inside who never got out. There’s a strip joint very close by, and a bar in the hotel, for what that’s worth. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but the night got chaotic. We ordered Pizza Hut to the hotel from 4 miles away at 9pm. The driver called four times by 10pm asking where the hotel was, even though we were standing outside waiting. The pizza never arrived, so after asking them to remake it, we had to go pick it up. It was the most chaotic night of our vacation.
