Apple Pony Inn

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and our room had everything we needed in a cozy setup. Rachel, Tom, and their family welcomed us warmly over a delicious breakfast after we arrived late the night before. Apple Pony Inn is tucked among farms, wineries, and rolling hills, yet campus is only a short drive away. We picked up homemade jams, local wines, custom "apple" mugs, and Rachel’s Pennsylvania Dutch Cookbook as keepsakes. Such a quiet, relaxing stay. We’ll be back!

One thing from my stay at the Pony several months ago has stayed on my mind. I accidentally spilled wine on the bed, told the proprietors, and ended up paying to have the sheets cleaned or replaced. I understand I was responsible and that guests should respect the place, but accidents happen and that’s part of doing business. The stay itself was pleasant, the hosts were courteous, and everything was very clean. I’d recommend the lodging for its quality, though I wanted to share what happened.

It’s a little out of the way, around 10-15 minutes from shopping and similar things, and the town itself doesn’t have a lot going on. Penn State is nearby, though, with things to do depending on your interests. We had a great two days at this beautiful, spacious, very clean B&B. The owner greeted us right away, showed us our room and around the place, and was kind and easy to talk to. Breakfast was really good, too. We found it online, and we’d book again if we’re in the area. Thanks for everything, and best of luck!

We’re so glad the big chain hotels were full when we headed to State College. Apple Pony Inn has spacious rooms, a beautiful setting, and personal attention, plus a terrific homemade breakfast. It’s about 10 minutes from PSU. This will be our first choice whenever we’re passing through Pennsylvania. Fantastic!
