Fairfield Inn & Suites State College

We arrived to find one king bed and a sofa bed that opened into a twin mattress. I’d called when booking to explain that we were a family of five, and the desk told me the King Suite would comfortably fit us. When I asked how five people were supposed to sleep in one king and one twin, they apologized and said they didn’t really understand how Marriott came up with the room configurations. An air mattress wasn’t allowed because they said it would be a fire hazard, and they told us nothing else could be done. We were in State College with our basketball team for the state tournament, and this was by far my worst experience with Marriott.

We just needed a warm, clean place to sleep during a one-night stop on the way home, and it did the job. The front desk staff were friendly at both our late-night arrival and checkout, and GPS found the hotel easily. Breakfast ends too early, and there was nowhere near the shower door to hang a towel.

The room was great, and the night shift employee with long brown hair made sure we were comfortable and looked after once we booked it. My friends and I were in town for a concert when we got locked out of our Airbnb in the middle of the night, with no belongings and dead phones. We showed up in a panic, and he turned the night around by giving us a charger and water and letting us sit in the lobby while we figured things out before reserving a room. I can’t remember his name, but I really want to thank him for being so hospitable on 2/7/26.

Friendly staff, nice rooms, and a standard breakfast. It’s easy to get on and off the highway, and close to downtown without having to deal with downtown traffic.
