The one bright spot was housekeeping, who were very nice and accommodating. Otherwise, the Super 8 in state college didn’t meet any reasonable expectations. I misunderstood a friend and thought she’d said it was okay for the white out game, then learned just before heading over that she didn’t recommend it. Hotels in State College were outrageously priced for the game, but this was over $800 a night for two nights. The room smelled musty and gross, and the bed wasn’t inviting. The bedspread was horrible, the blanket felt damp, and I slept in a sleep sack with a pillow I’d brought from home. There wasn’t hot water in the sink or shower, only lukewarm water. Towels were too small and there weren’t enough. Breakfast ending at 9:30 on a Sunday seemed absurd. There was nowhere to buy snacks or drinks, and no safe for valuables.

The location is good and there’s plenty of parking, but my last few stays included unfriendly front desk staff, especially the manager whose last name might be Boone Peters. It seemed to me they either had an issue with people from other ethnic backgrounds or didn’t want to work. Management should train them or replace them with trained staff. I have plenty of other hotels in the area to choose from next time. I also don’t believe the 5/5-star reviews are real. Are they?

There aren’t many hotel choices in State College, but this place is seriously dated. The staff were nice. There was no safe, and the bed pillows were the size of decorative accent pillows.

I had a really good stay. The staff were extremely professional, the atmosphere was great, and the rooms were neat.

The rooms were clean, but the mattresses were awful, worn down, and made it hard for both of us to stand or walk. For up to $350 a night, that’s terrible. The TV remote didn’t work, and it looked about 15 years old. Other guests in the elevator were complaining about the mattresses too. There was a big truck in the parking lot, torn apart and being worked on. It gave the place a weird feeling, almost like some people lived there.
