The Stevens Motel

I had no complaints. The room was clean and quite nice for such a low price, and I could park right outside it. The front desk woman was friendly and helpful too. The Stevens Motel is a good budget option in State College, PA, and I’d recommend it if you want somewhere clean and affordable.

We needed a room late at night while passing through on a road trip, and Michelle was incredibly accommodating. She found us a comfortable, clean room with a new a/c unit, and pointed us toward the waffle place across the parking lot for breakfast. Check-in was easy, the beds were comfortable, and Michelle was amazing. I’m so thankful, and we’ll be back on our next trip east through PA.

When I visit my son at PSU, I usually stay at The Stevens Motel. It’s a rare budget find in State College, run by a lovely young family, and it’s cheaper than anything else around. The Waffle Shop and a wonderful Greek restaurant are right nearby.

The room was very dated, though I’ve read they may be remodeling. I’ll come back if they do, because this place deserves to be brought into the 21st century. There’s a lot going for it too: the receptionist was warm, the rate was very low, and parking was easy. It was quiet aside from the roar of the vintage air conditioner. The location is awesome, right beside Waffle Shop North, my favorite State College restaurant. This beloved Happy Valley motel has been here since I was a boy in the 1970s and has always had a solid reputation.
