Toftrees Golf Resort

Katie was fantastic as our wedding planner. She was completely devoted to making sure the event went smoothly, and delivered. She deserves a raise, whatever she’s currently earning. The outdoor ceremony spot overlooking the golf course, pond, and mountains was so beautiful, and the surrounding nature is outstanding. The hotel itself is definitely dated, but as a wedding destination, this place is 💯. We just finished our daughter’s wedding at Toftrees, and anyone planning to marry around State College should meet with Katie. The Fields restaurant on-site is also a great value. The food is outstanding and the prices are unbelievably low.

We celebrated a friend’s wedding here. The spot was actually very nice, and all the staff were great. I can’t say the same about the room: it was small and old, the a/c didn’t work, and when switched on it made so much noise I couldn’t sleep all night.

The dessert at the restaurant was tasty and a good value, and the TV had an excellent channel selection. I also liked the big bathroom mirror and all the counter space. From what I could see, the golf course looked nice. But I wouldn’t stay here again. We were in town for a wedding at the property, and the room was one of the lower-end ones I’ve stayed in. It was dated and could use a refresh and some color besides brown, but the bigger issue was how dirty it was. There was visible gunk around the room, and even the clean towels had hairs and dirt on them. The pillows were bigger than the cases, so part stuck out however much we tried to stuff them in. The sheets were scratchy, and the a/c unit was extremely loud. The restaurant only has a breakfast buffet on weekends, with no full menu, and that wasn’t mentioned online, so it disrupted our plans. The restaurant employees seemed annoyed we’d come for breakfast, a stark difference from the otherwise friendly staff. Its restroom was so dirty that I walked back to my room to use the facilities.

The front desk receptionist was kind and friendly, but the restaurant hostess was rude when we arrived at 9:30. They were busy, and she said they closed at 10 and didn’t want to seat us. A nice waitress came over, apologized, and offered us a table right away. She explained they just couldn’t take orders after 10, so it was fine for us to sit and eat. The milkshakes were great. The room was horrific for what we paid. The bed and room were tiny, and the layout made it confusing and hard to reach the other rooms. The bathroom was gross and dated, with brown discoloration on the curtain bottom and shower floor. Turning on the fan made a sound like a jet taking off, so we had to spend the night very hot instead of listening to it. We were disappointed overall after paying an outrageous amount.
