Nittany Budget Motel

The staff were very nice, and the room was quiet and comfortable for the price. It's conveniently located, with a walking path nearby and a small store onsite. There was a microwave, fridge, cups, and other basic amenities. I couldn't control the room temperature, though, and the fridge froze my drinks.

There's a little bonus at check-in, you go inside a beer store. At night the motel was actually quiet, which I appreciated. It's an older, one-story, old-school motel with doors facing outside, just the kind of setup I prefer when traveling alone with dogs. The place was clean and well maintained, the location was convenient, and the staff were all very nice and helpful. It's not fancy, but it works well for pets, kids, and budget travelers. Five stars for all that, three for the rooms because it's a traditional motel, and it is what it is.

The location was great and the price was super cheap. I found a good deal on expedia. The rooms were nice, the beds very comfortable, and everything was clean enough that you could smell the bleach on the sheets. Right after I entered my room, the front desk called and moved me to a better one because a dog was barking in the room I'd originally been assigned. I'd stay here again. The following day I needed another hotel and paid three times as much, but it smelled obnoxiously strong of air freshener.

With it being game weekend, this budget motel was the only room I found under $300 a night, and I wasn't expecting much. The room was a good size and very clean, so the stay was decent in some ways. But the stale cigarette smoke was unbearable and nauseating, even for me as a former smoker. The bed was old enough that I could feel every spring. It also wasn't crowded, but someone stood in the parking lot right outside our room having a 20-minute phone conversation at 7am.
