There are scenic trails and plenty of places to walk right outside The Ridge Sierra, and our dog had room to stretch his legs and enjoy the alpine air. The staff welcomed all of us warmly from check-in, including our pup, and the place really embraces dogs. Our spacious, spotless room looked out over Lake Tahoe and the mountains. After hiking nearby, we relaxed by the fireplace and watched the sunset from the balcony. It’s close to Heavenly Village and the lake, while still feeling peaceful. We’ll be back, and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Tahoe with a dog.

The room was warm and comfortable enough, and check-in went smoothly once we figured out where to go. The directions say the front desk is on the left as you drive up, but that wasn’t right. You need to park and go down a flight of stairs to find the offices beneath the parking area. The location itself doesn’t offer much, and using the pool, food, and other amenities means driving to the Ridge Tahoe and taking a one-way road all the way around again. There’s another restaurant nearby. Depending on your room, there can be a lot of stairs, which makes the place feel pretty unique. The toilets are tiny and uncomfortable. There’s no AC, and our ground-floor room got no breeze overnight, so it was a hot, hard night to sleep.

The rooms felt spacious and cozy, and check-in was easy. Great location and a lovely stay, though the cleanliness could’ve been a little better.

We’ve stayed in a dog-friendly unit here twice now, but this visit left me more stressed than when I arrived. It’s a two-bedroom, two-full-bath place with a kitchen, dining room, living room, washer, and dryer. There was no AC, and the second bedroom’s two twin beds were beside a window with no curtains and a flight of stairs right outside, so people could look in. That felt completely inappropriate. For a dog-friendly unit with a dog bed, it was odd that there were no dog bowls. The access card didn’t work when we arrived, and with the unit’s location and layout, going back to reception was a hassle. The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all during our stay, the TV froze and had to be unplugged to restart, and we had no hot water on the second night. I want to like the place, but both visits have left me unimpressed.

The thermostat was broken, so the heat stayed on during a hot day and was never fixed. There’s no AC, either. The bathtub was clogged, and maintenance didn’t fix it when I called. The pool is a 10-minute drive from the apartment. Not a good stay.
