The pest problems in the building were never dealt with. There were rats, bugs, spiders, and ticks, and she said it wasn't her problem because we lived in the woods and should deal with it. I rented the downstairs apartment from this woman from February to April, and the lease said any money kept from the deposit had to be backed by an itemized damage statement. It also said she couldn't keep money for lost rent or early termination. We had paid the cleaning fees upfront, too. My healthcare contract ended early because of COVID, when the hospital no longer needed the contracting services, so I gave notice and asked her to inspect the apartment and return the $1,200 deposit. She said she was quarantining because of COVID, even though she'd just been out on the town. I gave her my forwarding address and expected the deposit within 30 days. When that time passed, she sent $600 and a letter saying she was keeping the rest for cleaning because I was a healthcare worker and might have been exposed to the pandemic without knowing it. That's no joke. I couldn't make her do the right thing. What kind of person takes money from a healthcare worker during a crisis like that? I contacted a lawyer, but they said they couldn't take my case then because so many people were having COVID-related problems. Don't visit this place. There were too many tents and boxes along the roads that would offer better service and cleaner surroundings. Thanks, Mona, for the wonderful experience.

The rates were reasonable, and breakfast was a great country-style spread. It's tucked into the woods with gorgeous views, about 30 minutes from Williamstown or Tanglewood.

You get a lovely rural setting here, while still being close to the Berkshires. A great place to visit.
