Comfort Inn & Suites Sterling

We got in around 9 p.m. without any trouble, and I felt safe throughout the stay. The rooms were a bit dirty, though probably the best option in the area, and there weren’t any bugs. The price felt high for the hotel’s condition. It wasn’t bad for a quick stop.

After a 13-hour drive from Chicago, this was a marvelous place to stop. It was very affordable, and the room was clean with a huge bathroom and a clean tub. I soaked for about an hour, and the hot water never ran out. It was really hot, too. The bed impressed me, very comfortable.

Jennifer is amazing. We’re in the area for a job site, and she makes us feel at home. We left an electric toothbrush behind, and she made sure it was kept in the office until we could return. She’s kind, helpful, and personable, and takes care of any irritating little needs each time without making us feel like a problem. The other people at the main desk seem friendly and happy in their jobs too. Thanks again, Jennifer! The rooms are comfortable enough, though nothing special, and could use a facelift. Some beds are comfier than others, and the bathroom caulking and other details need updating. The lemon water in the lobby every day is lovely, and breakfast is generous, with eggs, sausage, muffins, yogurt, cereal, waffles you make yourself, and more. The manager, Geoff, went out of his way to make our stay easier while we waited for the insurance company to sign off on our camper being totaled. We’d been driving home from a cross-country camping trip when a blowout wrecked it, and this was the closest hotel. We ended up staying several days because we didn’t know when we’d be able to go home. Prices seemed to fluctuate quite a bit for the area, maybe because of all the through traffic. Still, Geoff did what he could to get us a better rate, given our situation. It’s a typical chain hotel, with standard rooms and breakfast, but everything in our room and the common areas was clean. There’s a small late-night snack spot with coffee and candy bars for a dollar, and lemon-infused water in the lobby. Nice little touches. If you need a chain hotel while passing through, the service here is great.
