Hampton Inn Stony Creek/Petersburg Area

The staff were all helpful and very friendly. Our room was nice, though a hallway and elevator smell lingered and thankfully didn’t reach the room. Breakfast was just so-so. The door wouldn’t shut all the way, but we propped a suitcase in front of it and managed. Conveniently close to the highway for travelers.

The front desk employee was lovely, and that’s the only reason I gave this two stars. The rest of the hotel was horrible. It felt like a halfway house, the room was filthy, and the carpet was so wet that our socks got dirty, so we had to keep our shoes on. Looking around, we found grime and dirt everywhere. There was trash outside several room doors, and the elevator made a terrible noise. This did not represent the Hampton Inn brand well at all. I usually stay at HI properties, but this one has me considering other brands on our drive to Florida. If they’re remodeling, the rooms should be impeccable to make up for the rest. I really do not recommend it.

They charged me twice for the room, and I had to call to get the extra charge refunded. The back door card reader has been broken for a while, according to what I was told. There are only two machines in the gym area, which is a joke. They said they’d give me Hilton points for the trouble, but I never received them. I also requested a call from the manager and never heard back. The owner doesn’t keep the complimentary snacks for honor members stocked. Hilton corporate should investigate this hotel. They don’t seem to care about customers.

The first room we were given looked like nobody had cleaned it after the previous guest. The replacement room was visibly dirty too. We left without even staying for breakfast the next morning because we couldn’t trust what we’d find. This hotel clearly isn’t taking cleaning seriously.
