Days Inn by Wyndham Stoughton WI.

The location was the one thing I liked. The rooms seemed thrown together, and the safety issues were hard to overlook. Our door was missing its security latch, the outside doors weren’t locked, and the security lights flashed all night. We had a non-smoking room, but people were smoking and talking outside it from 1 to 3 a.m., so it smelled like smoke inside too. Breakfast was just cold cereal and instant coffee.

When I pointed out what looked like an animal bone on the floor, the staff came across as indifferent, dismissive, and rude. I was staying at the Days Inn in Stoughton, WI, and the rest of the room didn’t make me feel any better about the cleaning. The carpet was stained, surfaces felt grimy, the room smelled musty, and some lights didn’t work. It clearly hadn’t been vacuumed properly. I don’t expect luxury at a budget hotel, just basic cleanliness and professionalism, and neither was there. I won’t stay again and would tell people to avoid this location until the cleaning improves.

The pool wasn’t working, and breakfast was pretty bare: cereal, bread, four bananas, an apple, and a couple of yogurts. The coffee tasted bad too. The room had a dirty carpet smell, and the bathroom tub was filthy, with mold around the faucet and a ring inside it. I can’t recommend this hotel.

We’d stayed here years ago, but the low ratings made us hesitate before booking again. Rates at most hotels had shot up because of a big convention nearby, so we gave this Days Inn another try. There’s some wear and tear, but the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. If all you need is a good night’s sleep without frills, it’s a sensible option.
