Days Inn by Wyndham Stuart

We got a decent continental breakfast with our booking, and the pool was nice. The staff were kind, the location was handy for stores and not far from the beach, and the price felt fair for what we got. The rooms are somewhat dated, with modern updates layered over a building that clearly dates back decades, but it still has charm. I’d come back.

The noise made it almost impossible to sleep. Planes flew overhead, heavy doors kept slamming, and the laundry carts’ hard plastic wheels rattled across the concrete for hours. Management should fit those carts with rubber or air-filled wheels to cut the sound and vibrations echoing through the building. The worst part was how the manager handled a smoke alarm. Steam from the hot shower accidentally set it off, so I shut the bathroom door and the alarm stopped. While I was still showering, the manager tried to force his way into my room without warning or announcing himself. Luckily, the door was latched. I called out that I was naked and explained the steam had triggered it, but he insisted on checking immediately. I had to rush to the door dripping wet in a towel to satisfy him. As he left after confirming there was no fire, he made a condescending comment about no smoking in the rooms, even though I don’t smoke. Housekeeping does a fantastic job, the internet was reliable enough to stream shows, there are handy vending machines for late-night drinks, and the shower water gets nice and hot. But the poor breakfast selection and broken toaster and pancake machine meant I mostly settled for cereal and apple juice. Between the noise and management’s invasive, unprofessional behavior, this would be my last choice if I had to stay in Stuart again.

The front desk staff were extremely kind, attentive, and professional. They deserve five stars for customer service. The room felt old and humid, and the air-conditioning didn’t work properly, so it stayed very warm. I reported it to the front desk, but the problem continued throughout my stay. The towels looked worn and yellowish enough that I’d suggest bringing your own. Breakfast was basic, enough to get the morning started, but could use more variety and better quality.

We had a really pleasant stay at first. The front desk man was kind and brought extra towels, and when my period came early, he understood and gave us extra linens. We expected to come back. That changed when I called about my deposit and learned it was being kept because of a small amount of blood on the top sheet. I told them I couldn't control the timing and that there was no damage to the room or furniture. I know they have backup linens for situations like this. It felt unfair to lose my money over a little blood, especially when people do all kinds of things in those beds. We were also sexually harassed by another guest, the hall smelled strongly of weed, and people openly walked around with alcohol. I wouldn't recommend this place. Go across the street instead. I've stayed there several times, and the rooms are clean without a chlorine smell, and the management is professional and respectful. This property used to be the Clarion. Look up some stories about it. The only thing that changed was the name.
