Motel 6 Sulphur Springs, TX

The room was filthy. My socks turned black, there was mold in the bathroom, and dirty water kept coming up in the bathtub. Noise from other guests made it impossible to sleep, with furniture being moved in the middle of the night. This place is nasty and needs a health department inspection. After a good stay at a Motel 6 in Amarillo, I had high hopes here, but I’m so disappointed. There was often nobody at the counter, and the older man was especially rude. We had to extend our stay even though we didn’t want to. When I went to the desk, he took ages to come out and then tried to charge me nearly $70 too much. He only accepted the correct total after my husband showed it to him in the app. I’ve heard from others that he overcharges people too. They’re rude and seem to try to scam you. Please don’t waste your money here.

The room felt cozy and private, was clean, and was easy to get around in. I was especially glad the air conditioning was already on when I walked in, a real Texas blessing. The buildings are well kept, and the landscaping makes it clear this motel gets a lot of care. It’s right by the highway, but if that’s why the price is so good, I’m fine with it. I’m very impressed.

The owner or manager wasn’t friendly, and there weren’t any “Do Not Disturb” signs to put on the door. Interstate traffic could be heard all night, too. Over two nights, we had to kill at least a dozen crickets. There were gaps along the bottom and side of the door, so we even shoved a towel underneath, but it didn’t solve the problem. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were extremely flat. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The outside gave me the wrong impression. Inside, my room looked brand new and was clean, and the staff were really friendly.
