Birch Hill Suites Sulphur

The woman running the office was really nice, and our room was clean when my husband and I checked in. We’ve booked for 28 days. It has a full-size refrigerator and a two-burner stovetop, so we’re looking forward to staying here.

The front desk staff and cleaning crew have been great, but dealing with management has been the problem. I’m almost a month into my stay and head home Friday, returning Sunday afternoon. Until last week I paid when I got back. Then I was told there’d be a penalty if I didn’t renew before 11 a.m. This week I called from home on Saturday to renew and was told I had to do it in person. By then I couldn’t get back before 3. The manager called me after I asked to speak with her and talked down to me like I was her 16-year-old son. She was rude and disrespectful. I explained I’d have paid in person before leaving if I’d known phone payment wasn’t allowed, but she just gave me the company policy speech. I work with 780 people, and that number is about to grow. I’ll tell them about this treatment. There are plenty of other places around here. It’s hard to see why management would rather collect a $23 late fee than keep my business and potentially get 100's of other customers. Bad business. She shouldn’t be in management.

The room we were moved to had a beer bottle under the bed, dead love bugs, black spots on the beds, and a roach I killed the morning we left. The other residents also played loud music and argued for most of the night, waking my baby. The whole place felt off, including the residents, and I don’t think it’s family friendly. We picked this over studio 6 because they wanted a $100 deposit. In our first room, the key wouldn’t work even after we tried for about five minutes. Then an angry guy looked out the window at us and shut it. We went back to the desk, and workers checked the room. They said nobody was inside, but it was very dirty, so they switched us. Just a terrible stay. I wouldn’t do it again.

The elevator was broken, so I had to haul all my tools and clothes up the stairs. The washer and dryer didn’t work, and whoever runs them seems not to care about the business or customers coming back. The Wi-Fi was down at the site and still is.
