Rodeway Inn

**Note: This location is no longer Rodeway Inn and is very clearly marked Traveler's Inn** I was here for a little over a month in a first-floor room with a king bed, and for a two-star hotel I was very happy with the stay. It was clean, I never saw bugs, the plumbing and electricity all worked, and the heater and AC did their jobs from across the room without freezing me out. When I mentioned a small drain clog to the front desk, maintenance came in under seven minutes. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Housekeeping came about every three days, sometimes more often, and were polite and respectful. There was a full-size coffee maker, plenty of counter space by the sink, and blackout curtains that worked. I especially liked the lighting: warm lights around the room, with bright white LEDs over the sink where I did my makeup. Great call, Traveler's Inn. The small fridge had no freezer, but it kept things quite cold. I took the photos at the end of my stay.

We had to switch rooms because the first one had so many bugs. The new room wasn’t especially clean either. Housekeeping was pushy and rude, and even though I couldn’t understand what they were saying, their manner made it clear it wasn’t pleasant or necessary. They kept knocking and asking whether we were checking out, about 45 minutes before checkout time. At least, I think that’s what they were asking.

The free WiFi dropped out sometimes, but they did offer breakfast until 9 AM, and pets were allowed for an extra fee. Still, I wouldn’t return. Roaches came out of the fridge in our first room, and brownish water ran from the bathtub for the first minute or so. An older woman also barged into our room. It didn’t feel completely safe, though I understand that incident was outside the hotel’s control.

I was upset and displeased from the moment I entered the room. The front desk person was very rude, there was a nasty smell, bad spiders and webs in the corners, and no internet. The rooms cost $74 a night, which wasn’t worth it. Roaches had taken over the rooms, including the bed and tub, with dead ones across the floor. I was moved to another room, but it was even worse. I asked for a refund because I had nowhere else to go, but they told me to wait four days for the manager and said they could only keep moving me between rooms. DHEC really needs to go there.
