Serena Inn & Suites - Sundance

We got a good deal, and the place was very clean. The pool was great, though the hot tub wasn't filled or working. Breakfast was decent too. Thanks!

Ken, the owner, was really nice and helped us sort out a big reservation problem. This place stood out from the other budget hotels and motels we've stayed in. It's not new and shows a little wear, but it's a great value and we'd highly recommend it. The room was quiet and very clean, with lovely smelling, snow white bedding and towels and a really comfortable mattress. The free breakfast was fantastic, with options for food allergies, biscuits and gravy, crisp waffles, and fresh fruit. The usual things, just much better than elsewhere.

We were given another room after I complained, and at least the heater worked. But the sheets in the second room were dirty, there was an old toilet paper roll left by the last guest, the bathroom curtain was dirty, and there was only one full towel for two adults and a child. There was a fly in that room too. They offered free breakfast, but I wouldn't eat there. The first room smelled musty and looked a bit dated as soon as we walked in. There was sticky fly tape in the office, which should have been my first red flag. I noticed a dead fly in the room, then another on the small table and one when I shook the sheets. There was also a live fly on the floor and another on the ceiling. The AC/heater was very old, with push and dial buttons. I refused to stay there. At the desk, the man said flies come in when they see light. I'm from NYC and have never seen flies in 20 degree weather, let alone six in a room that's supposed to be clean. I don't know where the positive reviews that led us to book came from. Never again. Half a star for the working heater and half for giving us another room.

We wound up here after our original booking didn't meet our expectations. When I called to ask about vacancy, the staff member was friendly, and check-in was quick. We were surprised by how spacious the room was. The building is older, but the room was clean and well kept. Breakfast was good. Most refrigerated items had run out, though we were visiting midweek in the off season. I had a bagel with cream cheese, and saw other guests having biscuits and gravy. The waffles smelled great too.
