thunderbird beach hotel

I only stayed because everywhere else was booked, and I'll never come back or recommend this place. The front desk agent was rude and claimed there was no reservation without even looking for it. I had to call my travel agent and wait another hour to check in. The room was hot, with no thermostat, and I was told the building's central air is set for everyone. The outlets didn't work, the balcony was dirty, and there were cockroaches, lizards, and rats. Beds were tiny and unstable. Towels were stained and rough, the bathroom door stuck, and the tub and carpets were filthy. The ceiling had mold and water damage. Neither the phone nor TV worked, the lamps had no bulbs, and only one elevator was running. Staff were rude and unprofessional. They need to shut this place down. It's an eyesore beside the beach.

The location is beautiful and the beach is great, but I would've slept better on the beach. The online photos are completely misleading. The rooms were disgusting, truly foul, with mold and pubic hair on the floor and towels. The sink and shower were backed up. The outdoor pool was gross and closed at 5pm, even if you wanted to swim. There was also a woman asleep on a chair pad in the middle of the stairway. If you want somewhere clean and comfortable, this isn't it. Go elsewhere, trust me. 🤢🤢🤮

The beach is great, and the location is hard to beat for a cheap place to sleep and shower. The lobby is nice, the diner food is really good, and the tiki bar is a fun spot. Still, there are a million things wrong with this place, but who cares at this price. They're tearing the hotel down in a few months, so know what you're booking. And that stuff on the elevator floor isn't blood, it's hydraulic fluid leaking from the roof, so don't stand in the middle.

We came for the hotel's authentic mom-and-pop feel because my father-in-law wanted to relive the past. We didn't expect someone at the front to start yelling at the whole family. At first I thought maybe it was part of a show, then realized it was actually happening. Looks like I'm not the only one who dislikes this place. Stay far away. It's not worth saving a few bucks. You can get a room at the Marco Polo for a similar price and have a much better experience.
