Comfort Inn Sunnyvale - Silicon Valley

The room was good, but I’d warn anyone with a crew cab truck to avoid staying here. They charged me $20 for parking as though my truck were a large semi tractor trailer. I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels and never been charged just for having a “4 door truck.” The manager, or whoever was at the front desk, tried to justify it by saying they charge all “trucks” $20, even when nothing is going on and the lot is empty. Absolutely ridiculous.

I had one of my worst nights of sleep in a long time because the power was out for the whole night, around twelve hours. The lights, TV, Wi-Fi, hot water, elevator, and refrigerator were all down. I know the outage may not have been entirely the motel’s fault, but it still made for a very bad night. The rest of the stay had some good points: it’s affordable for Silicon Valley, the rooms were clean and usable, and it had the amenities I needed. Being near two major highways made it easy to get around the Bay. The rooms are too small, though, even for one person. That night is why I’m rating it three stars.

The staff were really helpful when I needed a pen for my daughter’s Valentine’s Day card. Mine had run out of ink, and I was upset since she lives just a few blocks away. I asked at the front counter, and they were happy to lend me one. It’s a nice, quiet area, conveniently located by 237 and the 101.

I wish I’d booked more than one night here instead of staying at the Quality Inn. My last night in the area was much more comfortable at this hotel, and I’d be happy to come back on my next visit.
