La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Sunrise

I stayed January 16 and January 17, 2026, and checked out January 18. I was in room 217, where I found a roach in the bathroom and a dead one behind the TV. After I complained, they moved me to room 223. There were no dead roaches in that room, but it still smelled moldy. The TV worked, though it lagged when turning on and changing channels. The service was very poor. Check-in was through a video screen with a hotel representative who had a heavy accent and was hard to understand. Five people were lined up to use the single video check-in booth before an attendant appeared behind the desk. I don’t know where he came from, maybe an office somewhere. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking. Based on what I’ve read since my stay, complaints don’t seem to lead to improvements. It feels like they just want the money. The pictures show the roach in the bathroom and the dead one behind the TV in room 217. The room smelled moldy, and I’ll never come here again. Stay away from this place.

I’d seen the negative reviews and was worried, but my stay turned out to be the opposite. The hotel looked a bit outdated, but I cared more about cleanliness and service. Sky made virtual check-in quick and easy. My room on the third floor was neat, very clean, and cozy. Breakfast didn’t have many options, but it was satisfying. I’d planned to stay two nights and ended up extending by two more. At checkout, I ran into a problem getting the security deposit back on my international credit card, probably due to a technical issue. I can’t thank Isha Sia, the assistant manager, enough for doing everything she could to help me get the refund. That left me with a pleasant and convenient experience. Shout out to Isha and the rest of the team. I’d definitely return.

The sink was clogged and drained badly, and the bathroom was pretty nasty. The room also smelled, had stains and sticky floors, and there were roaches. We found two, then saw two more in the bathroom even with the lights on. We slept with the lights on because we were afraid more would come out in the dark. We wouldn’t eat the breakfast, since who knows if roaches had gotten into the food. When I complained to the check-in computer screen, the person said the hotel was full and couldn’t move us, and apologized for the inconvenience. I told him finding two roaches was disgusting, not just an inconvenience. He said there was nothing he could do, then assured me I wouldn’t find any more. I asked how he could promise that when he wasn’t even there. The room cost over $170 with taxes, and thank God we only stayed one night. My mother booked it, and I wish she’d read the reviews first. This place feels like a garbage dump from the 90s, and the customer service was terrible. I can’t imagine ever staying at La Quinta again. Pick another hotel, or sleep in your car. Anything would be better.

We checked in after 1:00 a.m., very late and at the last minute, and I’d already complained to the staff member on the kiosk about the terrible room conditions and the state of the property. There was no care at all in the response. In room 416, the smell was so bad as soon as we entered that we couldn’t get past it. The furniture, bedding, and cleanliness were all subpar. We returned to the kiosk and switched to the only other room available, 310. It had less odor, but it hadn’t been cleaned at all. At checkout, I explained the problems to the only staff person, the one on the kiosk, and they still didn’t care. The hotel needs overdue repairs and a deep cleaning. We paid $159 for the night. Afterward I read the reviews, and it’s disheartening to see management’s replies because they seem to know about these conditions but aren’t trying to fix them.
