Diamond Mountain Casino Hotel

This was basically a Best Western priced room with fewer amenities than a Motel 6. The pool was permanently closed, which I hadn’t been told before booking. There was no coffee pot or microwave in the room, just a mini fridge on the floor. One bed didn’t have a frame. The carpet clearly hadn’t been vacuumed, with several clumps of hair left on it, and some kind of paper mache covered the bathroom smoke detector.

We usually stay here around Thanksgiving, but this year was a huge disappointment. The staff were nice, but since the service took a dive, we won’t be back. Complimentary breakfast is gone, as are the in-room coffee machines, and there isn’t even free coffee in the lobby. The casino reeks of stale cigarette smoke, and you have to walk through it to get to the restaurant. When the doors open, the smell reaches the restaurant too. The hotel is old. They’ve put up new wallpaper in the halls, but the tubs are still step-in with shower curtains. Other hotels nearby still offer free breakfast and more modern facilities. It feels like the new management is trying to squeeze out as much profit as possible at the customers’ expense. You can do much better elsewhere.

You know the guy running the casino. Room prices are twice as high, there are no vouchers, and it’s harder now to earn free rooms. They’ve stopped the money drops every few hours and the diamond, emerald, and other prize thing. The card tables are gone, and so is the soda and coffee bar. Now they’re closing the pool and spa. It’s sad. What’s wrong with him? 🤪

The staff working the night of Oct 10 made my birthday feel special. Dinner was lovely and delicious, and whoever made the fried pickles, keep it up. I’ll be back for those.
