I saw a positive review supposedly posted by the owners of this dump and couldn’t believe it. The place was filthy, felt unsafe, and had an unwelcoming front office. Even $0 a night would be too much. While waiting for someone to check me in, I saw rodent poison in boxes left out in the open on the property. I was concerned it could kill people, pets, wildlife, and the feral cats chasing the motel rodents. I consider that animal cruelty, and have notified the local Sheriff, Humane Society, and ASPCA. The buildings, stairs, and walkways were dark, unsafe, and out of code. There were abandoned cars in the parking lot, and the place was nowhere near ADA compliant. If you have a disability, apparently you’re unwelcome. Transients were hanging around. There was no management, security, or maids, and clearly no cleanup ever. It seemed like nobody cared. Why hasn’t the city gotten involved? Shut it down. There were also drunk or drugged-up guests staggering around, and one seemed to work at the motel. They had an office key, anyway. Maybe it was the owner. I left without asking. On the way out, I drove past a garbage pile around one overflowing dumpster. Appalling, almost laughable, except my employers booked this stay and are now paying for two vastly different motels. Hopefully you get the idea and keep driving past the unlit sign. Reno, Redding, anywhere. That’s what I did.

The bed was comfortable, and there was cable, but I didn’t feel safe and won’t stay here or recommend it. I’d booked elsewhere, but it was full, and a few other places didn’t answer, so I looked on Expedia for a cheap room. Travel inn was the least expensive. Outside, the property looked run down and people were hanging around. I hoped the inside might be better, but the office was just as bad and the room was no improvement. The door didn’t sit properly in its frame, leaving about half an inch of space at the top and a quarter inch at the bottom. The room was cold and drafty, so I had to leave the heater on all night. The door also looked flimsy enough to shoulder open from outside. The bathroom cabinet door was broken, with broken wood underneath. Everything in the room felt old, ragged, and outdated. I will NEVER, EVER stay there again.

This is an honest warning to other travelers: don’t book this property. We’d planned to stay just one night, but the place looked nothing like its photos, and the desk person or manager treated us horribly. He tried to charge $268 instead of the $65 including tax we were meant to pay, saying we’d booked a week. He had my ID and credit card, and claimed there was no reservation. When he showed us the screen, our reservation was right there. He said it wasn’t him and he didn’t know who was checking in. When we asked to see the room, he angrily told us to leave and find another hotel. The property was old and dirty, with paint over the windows, and looked completely lacking in security. I’m an old hotel person and know both sides of what a place should be. This wasn’t it. We told the booking company they should remove it from their site, for their own sake.

The older woman who checked us in was the only good part of the stay. She had a little trouble splitting the payment between cash and card, but still chatted with us and made us laugh. A kind gentleman also helped us get the room door open when the key didn’t work properly. The room was dirty, with live and dead bugs everywhere, though thankfully we didn’t see any on the bed. The mattress sagged badly in the middle and tilted so much that we kept rolling left and into each other all night. We used our own pillows and blankets rather than the hotel blankets. The shower was so dirty we couldn’t tell when it had last been cleaned with proper products, and the toilet still had body fluids left by a previous guest. We were too grossed out to use the bathroom and went to a nearby gas station after checkout. Even that was much cleaner. We didn’t want to change into clean clothes because we didn’t know how clean the bed was or when the sheets had last been changed. At least the AC worked, though it shut off at random and wouldn’t restart when we pressed the buttons. It came back on by itself, with no timer set. We paid $55 for the night, and they don’t offer refunds or exchanges. That room wasn’t worth $20.

The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was clean. That’s the only reason I gave it one star. The place was old, falling apart, and so trashy that we didn’t feel comfortable staying there. There were lots of sketchy people staying or living there, and people stared at us. We had camping gear strapped to the roof of our car, but felt so uneasy around the tweekers that we took it all off and kept it in the room in case it got stolen. The floors clearly weren’t being cleaned. My baby got dirty after crawling on them for just five minutes, and my clean socks got filthy. The bathtub looked so gross I didn’t want to put my baby in it, though I had to use it. The water pressure was nice, but the shower kept switching between cold and scalding hot when I was trying to get a warm shower. If you have any standards at all, don’t stay here. Otherwise, I’d give it no stars.
