The service was unfriendly, and the non-smoking hallway smelled like smoke. There was no lock on the bathroom door, and one of the room-door locks was broken. Nobody mentioned when we called ahead that remodeling materials were blocking the front entrance. Breakfast was awful: watered-down waffle batter and gravy, hard biscuits, stale bread, and we had to search the cabinets for plates.
I asked about the beds because I have a bad back and have sometimes found old hotel mattresses with springs poking through. The staff were extremely unfriendly and asked why I’d ask that. They said their beds wouldn’t be good for a bad back. So there you have it, lol. If you need a decent bed, go elsewhere. I stayed down the street instead, and that hotel had excellent beds and friendly staff.
For a road trip stop, this was convenient: right off the exit and near a gas station. The rates were cheap, and the room was better quality than the ones I had at other Motel 6 and Super 8 places. I didn’t try breakfast, so I can’t speak to it. Just a heads-up, there’s a Super 8 sign on the building, and I didn’t spot a Rodeway Inn sign.
June 7, 12:45 a.m. The front desk service was horrible, and the room smelled bad. It felt sketchy with the place so deserted and just one clerk at the desk. It was cheap, but definitely not worth it. Keep driving. The mirror looked like its screw might be a camera, so we covered the screws with wet toilet paper.
We booked two rooms and had no problems with either one. The rooms were clean and fresh, and there were no bed bugs, which we’d been worried about at first. The staff gave us great service and even had a hot breakfast ready because we had to leave early. We’ll definitely stay again on our December 2011 trip to Kansas City.
