Super 8 by Wyndham Sweet Springs

I booked through Expedia and called the hotel four days before check-in to cancel. The employee who answered said there’d be no problem and that I was within the cancellation window for a full refund. When Expedia contacted the hotel to confirm the cancellation, Jack at the front desk refused the refund. I called Jack to ask why. If I’d been told a refund wasn’t possible, I would have kept the reservation; I only wanted to stay closer to our plans. Jack said the employee who had offered the refund hadn’t been fired, but that the refund still wasn’t possible. I said management was responsible for not training employees properly. Jack was rude, abrupt, and ill-tempered, then declined the refund and hung up on me. There’s a reason this is a 2 star hotel, and that won’t change. A refund is possible, but he’s choosing not to give one. I’ll be traveling there again soon and plan to see Jack to talk about this in person.

Our previous hotel rudely canceled our reservation in Marshall, so we were grateful this place took us in. The staff were the friendliest I’ve ever seen, and they love pets, going above and beyond to make sure your fur-baby is comfortable, maybe even more comfortable than you are. The rooms were very clean, and there was a good little breakfast to grab on the way out. They had a microwave, Coffe Maker, Alarm Clock, and even a mini-fridge. My only complaint, which isn’t really a complaint, is that the pillows weren’t diagonal to the door. Take that with a grain of salt!

The guy at the counter wearing the Indiana Jones hat was top notch. He was really friendly, found a room for my daughter and me at the last minute, and we had a few laughs with him. Hope they take good care of him. Great customer service is hard to find.

A winter storm left our group of 12 college wrestlers stuck in Sweet Springs, Missouri for three nights. The staff accommodated us really well and helped us make the best of it, and the whole town was so friendly. I highly recommend the place, with special thanks to Mark at the front desk.
