When the busloads show up, the outdoor area gets lively, trendy, and crowded. I preferred the cool rustic bar inside, where Autumn was a really nice and informative bartender. Our room was basic, but spotlessly clean, and so were both shared bathrooms. The one with the claw bath was great. This is just as advertised, rooms above Talkeetna's 100-year-old pub. Since we were there on a Saturday night, we expected little sleep, but got lucky: the band was excellent, so we joined the locals and partied until 1. It was good fun!

The greeter outside was friendly and let the server know we were there. After that, though, we were seated and never acknowledged. There were only one or two other parties in the restaurant, and we couldn't get the server's attention at all. After waiting more than 15 minutes, the two of us left without breakfast. This was on a Wednesday.

Our group of 12 filled two booths and a couple of bar seats, and the bartender handled the whole front of house with real precision. She was a star. The place was clean and pleasant, with a wonderful vibe. Drinks came cold, food hot and delicious, and portions were a good size. Several of us had the chowder, so good. The fish and chips were yummy, with nicely seasoned fries and fish in a batter thick enough to add flavor without hiding the fish. I think the shrimp had the same batter, and it was very nice. Even our picky eater enjoyed the cheeseburger. Highly recommend.
