Quality Inn Tully I-81

The property was well lit at night and seemed to be maintained. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a good shower with plenty of hot water. The clerks were friendly and helpful, and both check-in and check-out went well.

We were in New York because of a death in the family and picked this hotel to be near hods family. After a 12-hour trip, we arrived late and found the shower head broken. Then, when we were in bed, my husband felt something underneath him. We pulled up the sheets and found several sets of crumpled sheets tucked into a sunken spot in the mattress. The mattress was stained and disgusting. We told the woman at the desk, and she moved us to another room, but it really wasn’t much better. Next time we have to go to New York, I’ll drive farther to find a decent hotel.

Nyka at the desk made check-in easy. She was polite and even offered to take our picture before we headed to our son’s wedding. We stayed three days, and the place was clean and tidy, though there was a slight smell. Breakfast had plenty of quick grab-and-go choices. The heater worked great, and the AC worked in the afternoon. Our room didn’t have a microwave, so we used the one in our daughters’ room. For the price, it was a great stay, and the staff were amazing. I’d go back if I had to.

The breakfast was a step below basic. The egg sandwiches were frozen and needed to be microwaved. The motel itself was badly outdated, with old everything and bathtubs instead of walk-in showers. Though it’s right off I-81 and only 15 minutes from SUNY Cortland, the air around it had a terrible, pervasive odor. We drove 250 miles and arrived at 2 p.m. The clerk coldly told us check-in wasn’t until 3. There wasn’t a car in the lot, so I sheepishly asked whether a room might be ready. She took her time, then booked us in without saying anything. She may have been a cleaning person filling in at the desk, but she was uninviting, spoke quietly, and made us uncomfortable. I was just grateful not to wait another hour. We had chosen it because the Motels in Cortland were booked for parent’s weekend and this one had a 3+ star rating. The room was relatively clean, but this is absolutely not a 3-star Motel. Two stars is generous, and in my opinion it’s closer to one. I’ll never stay at this location again. Very disappointed with Quality Inn.
