Super 8 Talladega AL

My partner was in Talladega for a conference and got locked out at 11 PM when the door lock failed. The front desk worker couldn’t open it and called the manager, who was out of town. The manager finally arrived hours later and got the door open, but told my fiance it still wouldn’t lock, so he should just “don’t leave the room” until checkout. We literally found a bug in the bathroom. We’ll never stay at a Super 8 again. People were super loud outside at all hours, and a random plastic bag of *something* sat on the ground outside the door without being cleaned up for two days. This place needs a health inspection. If you actually want to sleep, go somewhere else.

The bed was awful, and the tub was dirty, with mold on the bathroom wall. The white microwave had been painted black except around the lettering. Wyndham, you’ve got to disassociate from this place. I can’t believe you put your name on it. It was really awful. Not to sound mean, but in a country town like Talladega, you really need a front desk person who can speak proper English and be understood by customers.

The second night, the door wouldn’t unlock, so we waited until 2 IN THE MORNING to get into our room. Then they yelled at me when I asked for a late checkout, even though I’d only gotten a few hours of sleep. Spend the extra money and go to the Holiday Inn right behind them. We had a reservation, but the mean old man at the front desk said there wasn’t one. I gave him the verification number, but he didn’t even check it in the computer. He just looked at me like I was an idiot. After saying there were no restrictions for a few minutes, he picked up a piece of paper RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM with our reservation on it. When I told him the name, he didn’t believe me and kept asking, “Are you sure that’s the name?” like I didn’t know my own name. He examined my ID for a few minutes before finally giving it back.

I heard the owner was cursing at people and treating them like they were subhuman. I’d sleep on the street before giving this business a dollar. This is the biggest joke of an establishment I’ve ever seen. The owner needs to be put in jail and taught how to treat people. If I could give zero stars, I would.
