DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tallahassee

The hotel is clean, in a fantastic location, and has spacious rooms. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and really liked the food. Noah at the front desk greeted us with a smile and went out of his way to see that we had what we needed. Everyone we met was smiling and seemed to genuinely want us to enjoy the stay. Fantastic hotel and staff.

The Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were a nice touch, with a pleasant unisex scent. The receptionist who helped us was extremely friendly and understanding, and I appreciated her professionalism during our stay of less than 24 hours. We booked at the last minute for a spontaneous day trip from Valdosta to Tallahassee and back. With cold, rainy weather all weekend, I was glad there was any availability. Our original booking was for a king, but before we even went in, we could hear a full party next door, music, shots, and several people. We politely asked to move, not wanting to be party poopers, and there were no other king rooms. Staff moved us to a corner room with two queens, which was much quieter. The hotel felt dark and grim throughout, from the hallways and floors to the room. The photos were taken in daylight; I also have night video, though Google wouldn't let me upload it. The room door didn't shut fully, with light visible through a gap at the top, so it didn't feel secure. We briefly checked out the rooftop bar, which was bumping on Saturday night. When we returned, the hallway by our room smelled strongly as if someone had been sick, and a towel had been left where it seemed to happen. Pretty gross. It's also on video on Yelp. My boyfriend and I made the best of the night, but the hotel felt very weathered and we wouldn't choose it again in Tallahassee. There's no free parking either, so you need to pay for a garage or try street parking.

The service is what stood out most. If you don't have the Hilton app, it's useful to download before arrival for keyless entry and choosing your room. I wouldn't recommend its text chat feature, though. I got a check-in text and replied, then was pleasantly surprised to be chatting with a real person from the hotel. It came in handy when I locked myself out. Lori Kaye got me back into the room quickly and efficiently, even during the busy check-in rush. I used chat for a couple of other things too. Thanks, Lori! I came to Tallahassee for lobbying, as many people do, and for the value, I can't find a better hotel location relative to the Capitol. The rooms are great, and many look out onto the Capitol. The temperature controls worked accurately, the water was hot, the sheets clean, and the fridge cold.

Noah was kind and pleasant on the phone, even though it was a very busy, sold-out weekend. We had driven ten hours from NC and were worn out, hoping we could get our rooms early so we could freshen up and be ready for my niece's special college celebration. He understood and managed to arrange early check-in. When we arrived, he and the other front desk staff were just as friendly and accommodating. The lobby was packed, but checking in was easy. It was my first visit to Tallahassee. My family and I will book this hotel again when we come next year for my niece's graduation. Beautiful property and clean, nice rooms.
