Aloft by Marriott Tampa Downtown

I felt completely safe the whole time, and the hotel's location is hard to beat, about a half-mile walk from the convention center and good restaurants. I was in downtown Tampa for Gasparilla race weekend and loved my stay. The room was spacious and spotless, with a wonderfully comfortable bed for after the races. The large walk-in shower had good pressure, and the soaps and shower gel smelled amazing. Parking costs a bit, but it's covered and secure, so I thought it was worth it. Ellie and Puma at the front desk were friendly and accommodating. I'll be back.

Gabi at the bar was really friendly and welcoming, and made us feel at home. The drinks were perfect, and she had such a great vibe. Shenaaz also made our stay at Aloft Tampa Downtown special. From the minute we arrived she was sweet, helpful, and knew the answers to everything we asked. She made things smooth and easy, and it was clear she cares about guests and takes pride in her work. Her smile is contagious, too. She made us feel valued, not like just another room number. Thanks for going above and beyond, Shenaaz. We'll definitely come back because of her! 💛

The main downside was the lack of places to put things. We had two small shelves and a hanging rod, nothing in the bathroom beyond the sink counter, and no luggage rack. It would also help to mount the large TV on the wall so guests could see it fully from all three windows. The room itself was nicely done, with a great view, a comfortable bed, and a large shower with strong water pressure. When we asked for extra towels and a blanket, they were sent quickly. There was continental breakfast during our weekday stay.

The staff and valet were genuinely kind and professional, which is why I haven't given this a one-star rating. But the stay was unacceptable for a Marriott charging over $250 a night and fell far below brand standards. The room's strong bad smell, especially near the restroom, was awful. The coffee tasted like flavored water, and the TV was outdated with no proper smart TV integration, hard to understand for a Bonvoy property in 2026. The AC directions were wrong, as maintenance later confirmed, and even after adjustments the unit swung between too hot and freezing cold. I have Titanium Elite and Lifetime Gold status, yet was put in a supposedly newly renovated room with a wall blocking the view and all natural light. That felt careless. Even outside, several lights were flickering, making the place seem poorly maintained from the start.
