The room was great, with a nice kitchenette and lots of drawers and closet space. Breakfast was very good. The TV cable could use improvement: there was no ABC, CBS, SyFy, or BBC, though it did have kids’ channels. We were there just one night, so it wasn’t a big deal for us, but it might matter more on a longer stay.
The location worked very well for me, and the staff were cordial, but my stay at Home2 Suites By Hilton - Tampa Westshore Airport had two serious service problems. On Sunday at 1:00 AM, the night auditor called my room to ask why I hadn’t checked in. I had to explain I was already in Room 207 and had checked in Saturday morning. It woke me up, and I needed to be up at 5:00 AM for a half-marathon. I reported it to the front desk and the Manager on Duty, but nobody followed up. Also, we got no housekeeping during our three-night stay. I asked about the policy and was told service happens daily or every other day, but neither happened for us. When I raised it, the staff member apologized and said they were short-staffed. By then we were checking out. As a Hilton Honors member, I expected better. I hope management addresses the training and service issues.
I sent this account to the hotel by email and expected a reply or some remedy, but management never contacted me. After that, more things happened, and I stopped expecting anyone to address them. These are my own observations, without adding anyone else’s complaints or speculation. Please at least acknowledge this and respond. Staff behavior left me wondering how far the dishonesty could go. I saw several housekeepers close the door while cleaning rooms. One housekeeper denied my account of the cleaning and said I had declined service or put up a do not disturb sign, which I hadn’t. That raised concerns about honesty, including whether valuables or medicine could be at risk. I also heard staff loudly complain about guests and their duties. Kitchen staff were rude to guests on several occasions and sometimes closed early. On a holiday, the kitchen wasn’t open until 10. Other problems included a business center that didn’t work, a pool too dirty for me to swim in, and more than half the laundry dryers being out of order. I checked in on 12/15/2025. I was told I couldn’t have a room with a tub because those were reserved for people with access requirements. The first cleaning wasn’t until the 18th, four days after check-in. The second, on Dec 20th, was unsatisfactory. I had to ask for a vacuum and Windex. The housekeeper said I’d declined service in person and had a do not disturb sign up. I also told the front desk the door wouldn’t stay closed, but it still wasn’t fixed by 12/31/2025. The third cleaning was 22 December. For the fourth, on December 26th, the front desk had said it was done on the 25th. A woman had spent a long time talking on her phone on the third-floor windowsill and hadn’t cleaned anything. Peanuts sat on the floor by the elevator for three days before someone vacuumed them. On cleaning day, the housekeeper confronted me with an attitude about when I wanted service. I said around 10 would be great. When I came back at 130 she was still in the room with the door closed, which I didn’t like, and then told me to come back in ten minutes. The room wasn’t cleaned on the 28th, so I had to ask for towels and toilet paper. It was cleaned on Dec 29th 2025. On Dec 30th, the breakfast kitchen attendant was rude to everyone. Food was gone at 830, and when people asked for more, they got a lot of attitude. I asked once, then backed off because I don’t want to be patronized or spoken to as if I’m beneath them. On Jan 2 the room wasn’t cleaned. The front desk said it would be done the next day. On Jan 3 the towels were changed and bed made, but the floor wasn’t vacuumed and surfaces weren’t cleaned. There was no service Jan 6. The housekeeper said I refused it, which I did not. On Jan 7 they said the room had been cleaned, but nothing had been touched. Although the room was cleaned a few times, I doubt any visit would pass a quality check. I cleaned black pubic hair off the bathroom floor myself with a towel. The kitchen floor was very dirty around the edges, and the carpet stayed sticky underfoot. I contacted the front desk repeatedly and got only a few apologies, with no offer to make things right. That’s not what I expected from a place advertising “well make it right or the nights on Us”.
Everything from the lobby through the breakfast area was incredibly clean, and the spacious rooms were comfortable. Breakfast had a better selection than other hotels, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Each room also came with a bag holding two bottles of water and a bag of cookies. Being only a few minutes from the airport was a big plus. We weren’t keen on the pool, but it wasn’t a big deal. We had a great time and plan to return.
The breakfast attendant told me at 6 a.m. that I’d had enough bacon and should take something else. I’ve spent thousands with Hilton over many trips and have never been told what I can eat. If there’s a limit, put it in the policy instead of snapping at me. That part felt unfair. Maquela was the reason the stay wasn’t a disaster. The computers were down, and she was handling that while also trying to get guests into rooms. She was wonderful at the desk and deserves the credit for making people want to return. Without Miquela, I would have called the stay horrible. She was the bright spot.
