TownePlace Suites by Marriott Tampa Westshore/Airport

I won't return, even though I'm a Marriott Bonvoy member and usually prefer their hotels. I was exhausted and frustrated by 11 am Friday after a disastrous stay. The one staff member who went above and beyond deserves a luxury hotel job. The place didn't feel very clean, and my first room smelled of cigarettes. Its AC screeched so loudly it was intolerable. I dealt with two staff members: one seemed in a rush to finish, while the other was excellent. My second room backed onto a mechanical room and laundry room, with the headboard against that wall. Around midnight, another intermittent, disruptive noise came from the other side. The staff were the good part of this experience, but the rooms and noise made it miserable.

He was warm, professional, and attentive in a way that felt sincere, whether he was answering questions, helping out, or just greeting me kindly. He clearly takes pride in his work and treats guests with real respect. It’s rare to meet someone who serves with such heart. Elijah is a real asset to the property, and his presence raised the whole experience for me. Thank you for the memorable stay and reminder of what great customer service can look like.

I wouldn't stay here again because of the noise and the condition of the rooms. The refrigerator and AC kept making noise even with earplugs and a white noise machine. Several times overnight, something made my bed physically shake. I don't know whether other guests were banging on something or it was the hotel's infrastructure, but it jolted me awake. I've never had that happen in a hotel. I was there one night. Service and location were great, and the outside looks very nice. The Google listing calls it a two-star hotel, which seems accurate. Inside, the lobby looked disorganized, with boxes behind the front desk. The rooms are older and seem to have been repainted and refloored, but the upkeep is poor. I got the two-star feel, and the low room rate was generally fair. Still, I didn't enjoy being in the room.

I stayed with friends while we were in Tampa for the Monica and Brandy concert. The front desk attendant was extremely rude, and since we were staying more than three nights, our room wasn't cleaned. They didn't even take out the trash. The shower drained badly, and it took two calls to get it serviced. I contacted both the manager and Marriott and asked for a phone call. Instead, they gave me Bonvoy points, then the "Assistant General Manager" sent a rude email saying there would be no extra compensation. Customer service is nonexistent. This hotel isn't cheap, and they need to do better.
